MicroMappers is a collaboration with the United Nations (UN) to engage digital volunteers in positive and constructive ways. MicroMappers is a collection of apps (called Clickers) that enable volunteers to tag tweets, images and videos to provide the UN and other humanitarian organizations with very rapid disaster assessments. No prior experience is required and all it takes is a simple tap to support humanitarian efforts. MicroMappers has already been used in response to major disasters such as Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. This digital humanitarian effort was featured on BBC, Time, Wired, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, National Geographic and many other media channels. As a result of this successful partnership with the UN, MicroMappers is now available via this smartphone app through the collaboration with GeoThings.
